An emotional day on  Loch Tay

We have known Iain Hislop for several years, usually as crew and fantastic support for his wife Helen and her swim challenges. But for a change, this swim was all about Iain. Iain had a strong family connection to Loch Tay, and 18 months ago a discussion started about making this swim his challenge.  In Uswim Adventure style, we did our homework using the information Iain had given us,  had a trip to Loch Tay and just like that the swim arrangements were finalised and in the diary the date went.  Iain followed a bespoke training plan tailored around his work and had some brilliant achievements along the way.

A several day window was pencilled in and Thursday 24th August had Iain's name on it. Forecast to have some minimal wind ( its a Loch after all) we started Iain's swim.

We cannot put into words what an absolute honour and pleasure guiding this swim was. The finale was emotional as Iain approached the end, supported by a  sole piper in true Loch style. His family waiting and a dram of whiskey necked in memory of his late father.

Here is a video to capture the day.  Loch Tay was swam in 7 hours and 53 minutes.
