The Victorian philosopher John Ruskin bought Brantwood House declaring the view over Coniston  to ‘The Old Man of Coniston’ to be ‘the best in all of England’. Its also been the scene of many attempts to break the world water speed record. Between 1956 and 1959 Sir Malcolm's son Donald Campbell set four successive records on the lake in Bluebird K7, a hydroplane.

Dripping with history this is a fantastic place to start your open water swim adventures!

Did you know?  Coniston was fished by the monks of Furness Abbey who owned the water and much of the surrounding land in the 13th and 14th Centuries.

Ullswater is the second largest body of water in England and one of the most beautiful being compared to Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. It has three sections that were previously glacial which explains its coolness.

Windermere (10.5miles)

This is the longest stretch of water in England although officially its only a 'mere'.

Its main island is called "Belle Isle" and derives its name from Isabella, wife of John Christian Curwen, owner of the island, who completed the building in 1781. This is a beautiful, challenging swim that requires mental toughness, determination and plenty of stamina. A great swim tester in one of England's most picturesque 'meres'.

Prices start at £550 for a solo but you can pair up too. Relays are also an option in our covered guide boat. Note that extra long guided swims equalling 60 minutes per mile or more will be subject to additional charge agreed in advance.

Loch Lomond is the largest freshwater loch in the UK at 22.6 miles long, 5 miles wide and up to 620 feet deep. BIG!

Wallace’s Isle is just south of the village of Inveruglas and is said to be the place where William Wallace sought refuge. "We want our Freedom!"

In the 1953 US film ‘The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms’, about a giant dinosaur-like creature that attacks New York, the dialogue makes reference to ‘The Loch Lomond Monster’. Does one exist? Swim it and find out!

Everything about Loch Ness is epic. It's deep, dark, cold and contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England, Scotland Wales combined. Imagine our world population. Multiply it by ten. That is the number of people that can be submerged by the water contained in Loch Ness.

And who hasn’t heard of Nessie? St. Columba claims the first sighting back in the 6th century, although Nessie’s world-wide fame only started with the publication of photographs in the 1930s. Dave Q who completed the Worlds first two way as a relay team has had an actual encounter with the beastie but that's another story!

We've swum 'Ness' many times and each experience is more mysterious and beautiful than the last! Join us for a World class adventure like no other.
