Karen Reid 10 Hour Training Swim

Karens 10 Hour Swim . A swim with snacks

At 08:00 on the 8th June , Karen Reid slipped into Windermere with a simple plan: stay focused, take it one feed at a time, and maintain solid form throughout.

No drama. No big hype. No public tracker.

Well... there was a tracker, but only so Coach Karen could swim out and surprise her!

Some of you will know that last year, during her English Channel attempt, a nerve impingement left Karen unable to lift her arm out of the water. It was a heartbreaking setback after so much preparation and commitment.

What followed wasn't frustration for long. It became action.

Karen stepped back, took the time she needed, listened to her body, worked with her support team, and methodically rebuilt. Strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, injury prevention, mobility work, endless training hours, and a patient, sensible approach to recovery.

She has an incredible team around her, but the credit belongs firmly with Karen. Nobody else did the sessions. Nobody else put in the work day after day, week after week.

Focused. Determined. Disciplined.

But most importantly, sensible enough to trust the process.

Today's 10 hour swim wasn't simply her longest lake swim ever.

It was evidence.

Evidence that the work has been done. Evidence that the body is strong. Evidence that the mind is ready. Evidence that setbacks do not define the outcome.

Ten hours in the water, swimming smoothly and purposefully, with plenty left in the tank.

A huge milestone achieved and another box firmly ticked.

The 10 hour swim wasn't about proving anything to anyone else. It was confirmation of what Karen has built.
