Meet Harry Middleton, a newcomer to open water but not to swimming. Having only recently started open water swimming, Harry has had a phenomenal season already, with a last minute 2 person English channel relay swim under his belt, and winner of the Thames marathon swim Harry was here to make his mark. Having looked at the BLDSA record for Windermere, he fancied chasing the pace and seeing what he was capable of.
He started at Fell Foot jetty and it was clear he meant business. Feeding every 30 minutes at a super fast speed he powered down to the half way point in approximately 2 hours. Phenomenal.
As we started to make our way to Ambleside it was clear that the record was to remain intact, there were groans of effort coming from Harry has he pushed and pushed. We found out later they were also groans of fending off the cramps he was experiencing.
In an insanely fast time of 4 hours and 20 minutes, Harry completed his swim walking out on to Waterhead at Ambleside. Tired and over the moon to have completed this swim.
