A Triple Challenge of Fun for Helen

A Triple Challenge of Fun for Helen

Sunday was fun day as we set off on Helen's triple challenge to finish her open water season off. The goal was to swim five waters that she hadn't swum before. Having done Ullswater and Coniston for the first time this year, we chose Derwent, Buttermere, and Crummock to top the collection off nicely.

These swims were about enjoying the view and taking in the scenery—no watches and no times, just Helen, a guide, and the beautiful surroundings.

We started with Derwentwater and it was Dave who provided the water support, while husband Iain and I provided land support walking the trail. Next, we headed to Buttermere, the smaller of the three waters but definitely big on scenery. It was a blustery start for Karen, who was the guide on this one, but with the stunning mountains and just Helen in the water, it was super enjoyable.

We all walked together to the final destination: Crummock. Starting off in a bit of a ferny channel of water between the two lakes, Helen was not over-keen on the reeds brushing her at the start. However, 100m done and then it was head down and off to the end.

Three stunning locations and three fantastic swims for Helen. To top the day off, we enjoyed a pub dinner and started to plan 2023 adventures for the Hislops. Watch this space!
